Here’s an hour-long chat with the author of THE PALMETTO BOOK: Histories and Mysteries of the Cabbbage Palm, Jono Miller, sponsored by Sarasota’s Bookstore1.

It contains some readings from the Introduction (2:25), the Seminole Thatch (18:30 &35:15) chapter and the South Carolina Flag (36:50), but a large part of the chat involves responding to questions from viewers. Bookstore1 is hosting this first chat about THE PALMETTO BOOK less than a month after its release on March 16th. I’ll read a few excerpts, but more importantly feature some of the unique Sarasota connections found in the book and talk about my personal connection to this paradoxical plant.

I’m encouraging people to patronize their local independent booksellers, and the one I head to is Sarasota1, which is on the corner of PALM and Main in downtown Sarasota.
